Wolf WR8
The Wolf WR8 was a Formula One car for selected races of the 1979 season. Their drivers were 1976 champion James Hunt and Keke Rosberg. The engine was a Ford Cosworth DFV. The car was designed by Harvey Postlethwaite, previously responsible for the Hesketh 308 in which the Englishman won his first race. Hunt first drove the WR8 in the United States Grand Prix West and retired with Transmission failure, The 1976 champion had an accident at the Belgian Grand Prix before walking out of Formula One after the Monaco Grand Prix. Keke Rosberg took over his drive for the remainder of the season, The Finn first drove the WR8 at the French Grand Prix and finished 9th, The finnish driver blew the engine up in the German Grand Prix and Italian Grand Prix. The WR8's final race was the United States Grand Prix saw Rosberg caught up with Didier Pironi's Tyrrell and tried to overtake on the inside. He could not hold his line, and when he slid wide, he took the Tyrrell with him. Pironi was able to continue, but Rosberg retired with a damaged gearbox. At the end of the 1979 Formula One season, Walter Wolf, owner of the team, pulled out of Formula One and sold the assets of his organisation to Wilson and Emerson Fittipaldi for the use of their Fittipaldi Automotive team. ==External links==
